Ross Corstorphine, hailing from the historic city of Edinburgh, Scotland, has embarked on a remarkable journey across continents to find his culinary calling in the picturesque coastal town of Tofino, Canada.

Ross's story is one of passion, perseverance, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in the world of gastronomy. At the tender age of 19, he made the bold decision to leave his homeland and venture across the Atlantic to Canada. Like many young adventurers, he found himself immersed in the vibrant culture of British Columbia, taking on roles in the snow-covered slopes of Whistler during ski seasons, all while honing his culinary skills in the evenings at the renowned Araxi restaurant.

In 2016, Ross made his way to Ucluelet, where he delved deeper into his culinary journey by working closely with the executive chef at Norwoods. His culinary prowess then took him to distant lands, where he crafted exquisite dishes in the cozy confines of ski chalets in both Revelstoke and France. However, the call of the coast beckoned him back in 2017, where he collaborated with executive chef Warren Barr, refining his techniques and expanding his culinary repertoire.

The winter of 2023 marked a significant milestone in Ross's career when he seized the opportunity to purchase Zoeys Bakery, transforming it into The Break Cafe + Bistro. Since its re-branding in June 2023, The Break has become a culinary haven, where Ross's dedication to working with seasonal ingredients and crafting dishes from scratch has garnered widespread acclaim.
